Ah… summer. Long, lazy days of elderflower cordial, pub gardens and butterflies, wiling away the hours in the summer sunshine. The last place you’ll want to be is inside learning a new skill! And so, we at Barnes Class will put away our notebooks, take off our thinking caps, and pick up our own cup of summer to savour.
But we’ll be back in September with lots of great courses for you to consider! We’ve already published our exciting Block Printing class with the amazing Yateley Papers. Get inspired with colour and pattern just in time to make some fabulous gifts for Christmas, or even some beautiful wrapping paper. We know this class is going to be a hit, so we’re running it twice, on 15th and 22nd September.
For those of you more florally inclined, we are absolutely delighted to announce a new class on 18th October, Flowers for Beginners. We have paired up with the nationally acclaimed Judith Blacklock Flower School, which has an exceptional reputation for teaching classic flower arranging skills and cutting-edge contemporary floristry. Accredited by both the British Accreditation Council (BAC) and the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD), Judith has been teaching professionally for more than 30 years. This class will be offered as a field trip to New Covent Garden Flower Market followed by a tutorial in flower arranging at Judith’s school in Knightsbridge. A great gift for a mother-in-law or a fantastic day trip with a good friend, this class will surely be a sellout.

If you’re an independent business owner, September is the perfect time for a social media makeover. Based on the huge success of our ‘Make Your Facebook Business Page Work for You’ class with the socially savvy Kathy Ennis this past May, we’ll be running that one as a repeat, and following it with an intermediate course, ‘Facebook Publishing Tools and Advertising’ which will also focus on running competitions. To ensure you have all the tools you need, we’ll also offer a class on ‘Making Your Website Work for You’, focussing on website layout, lead magnets, categories and tags for blogs, and an introduction to Search Engine Optimisation. Don’t worry if that all sounds scary – Kathy specialises in breaking down these frightening subjects into friendly bits which make sense!
We’re delighted to welcome back Ali Gilling in September for her popular 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course as well as her Mindful Yoga class. Stay tuned for course dates and venues to be published soon!
Now that we’ve excited you with things to come, take your foot off the gas, sit back and relax. We look forward to welcoming you back to Barnes Class in September!
